Romania occupies one of the last places in the European Health Consumer Index (last place in 2016 and 2017, second to last in 2018). The Romanian health system is thus worse than in Bulgaria, Macedonia or Montenegro.
We are the country with the highest rate of hospital-acquired infections, highest rate of infant mortality and have a leading place in cancer and heart disease related deaths.
Causes are multiple: generalized corruption, emigration of medical professionals, a lack of investments, poor health education. In short, „democracy done wrong”.
Support Forum, together we can contribute to a healtier democracy!
The booklet aims to present, in a short form, the rights and obligations of middle and highschool students, in a relevant graphical format.
The main objective is to get students accustomed to the idea of getting informed about their rights, considering that this habit will pass on to their adult life. We believe it's important that citizens are well informed and have the courage to defend their rights whenever necessary, and that this habit should start as early as possible.
All illustrations have been done by students. The guide has been distributed in printed form in dedicated events (discussions with students regarding their problems).
For me, Forum Apulum is about how we train our civic spirit, so necessary for a functional democracy.
I got to know them a few years ago, when they were trying to make art-films screenings a permanent reality in Alba Iulia. I discovered right then that they have big plans - to reach highfuture scool students and teach them about fake news, about what it means to think freely, about their rights - both in scool and as adults.
I have lived for a long time in Bruselles, where NGOs are very developed and have a well-defined role, being at least as powerful as public administration. In a city that grows, such as Alba Iulia, Forum Apulum is an absolutely necessary ingredient, so that it's civic character keeps up with urban development..
I believe in the Forum project, I always support them and I wish there would be more people who understand how important our support is, to grow a generation of involved citizens that think freely.
